Before I begin this narrative, I would like to point out my views do not represent the entire Generation Z, but this is solely my perspective. Also, I do have to note my biases. I was raised in a Christian household with strong, Godly parents, raised with conservative ideals, and I have a college education. All these things I have experienced growing up have helped me to view the world my way.

The FDA defines a drug as anything that “diagnoses, cures, mitigates, treats, or prevents a disease.” However, there are numerous natural substances and compounds scientific studies have argued to be an effective and safer alternative to drugs, but the FDA has not taken the time to look at them. A few examples being Black Seed Oil and Turmeric.

Why hasn’t the FDA approved Turmeric? Along with other ancient herbs and natural remedies, Turmeric is perhaps one of the most studied compounds, but for some reason, the FDA has yet to approve its use for even the simplest of situations. During the last several years, scientists have conducted thousands of studies examining Turmeric and its main active ingredient, curcumin [1].

The Black Seed (also known as Black Cumin or Nigella Sativa) was once called the “seed of blessing” in ancient Arabic culture, and it continues to amaze alternative health researchers, and lately, even mainstream scientists have been studying its benefits.

From partially hydrogenated to 100% vegetable oil, generic vegetable oil is perhaps the most common oil used in American kitchens, and there are three general reasons why these oils are highly toxic. First, when these oils are heated, especially at high heats, these oils oxidize and release toxins, such as cyclic aldehydes, which have been linked to health issues such as various neurodegenerative diseases and certain types of cancer [1].

Unsurprisingly, the World Health Organization (WHO) has listed “vaccine hesitancy” as a global health threat [1]. This comes amid numerous other concerns including air pollution, climate change, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, vulnerable regions, antimicrobial resistance, Ebola with other diseases, and weak primary health care [2].
