A Discovery for Diabetics: Insulin Can Be Deadly, Turmeric Extract Passes Test

In this world of throwing drugs at symptoms and hoping for the best, there is a growing number of health experts who are shouting, “There’s a better way!” Even if the medical community won’t listen, I’m hoping you will. You see, the problem with many drugs is the harmful side effects that accompany them. You treat one problem and create three others.
That’s definitely the case when it comes to treating type-2 diabetes with insulin. If I were to tell you that treating type-2 diabetes with insulin is more dangerous than not treating it all, would you believe me? Sometimes the cure can be worse than the actual disease.
In a study that involved 84,622 primary care patients with type-2 diabetes, researchers divided the patients into three groups: sulfonylurea therapy only, insulin therapy only and insulin plus Metformin. Then, the researchers followed these patients to see which events happened first or at all—a cardiac event, cancer or death. They also monitored for microvascular disease.
Here’s what they discovered. The group that used insulin suffered more heart mortality, more stroke morbidity, more renal complications and neuropathy and more cancer!
Bottom line, insulin is the hormone of aging and death. So, why use it when there are healthier alternatives? Many type-2 diabetics are able to eradicate diabetes with a healthy diet, lifestyle and supplements—no drugs at all. And, instead of having negative side effects like insulin, the healthier way of living also fixes their high cholesterol, triglycerides, hypertension and many more health issues.
Turmeric Extract Proves Helpful for Pre-Diabetic Patients
Here’s some good news. The Journal of the American Diabetes Association recently declared that turmeric extract is 100 percent successful at preventing pre-diabetic patients from becoming full-blown diabetic patients over the course of a nine-month turmeric intervention. The study’s primary focus was to assess the effectiveness of Curcumin in Turmeric Extract as a type of delaying agent of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
The study was designed as a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial of 240 people who were considered prediabetics according to the criteria set by the American Diabetic Association. All subjects were randomly given either 250 mg of curcuminoid or placebo capsules for nine months. Throughout those nine months, the researchers assessed the type 2 diabetes progression by measuring: changes in the insulin-producing cells within the pancreas, insulin resistance, and the anti-inflammatory cytokine known as adiponectin. These measurements were taken at the beginning, after three months, after six months and after nine months. Here’s what they discovered: “After 9 months of treatment, 16.4 percent of subjects in the placebo group were diagnosed with T2DM, whereas none were diagnosed with T2DM in the curcumin-treated group. In addition, the curcumin-treated group showed a better overall function of β-cells, with higher HO MA -β (61.58 vs. 48.72; P < 0.01) and lower C-peptide (1.7 vs. 2.17; P < 0.05). The curcumin-treated group showed a lower level of HO MA -IR (3.22 vs. 4.04; P < 0.001) and higher adiponectin (22.46 vs. 18.45; P < 0.05) when compared with the placebo group.”
Their conclusion? “A 9-month curcumin intervention in a prediabetic population significantly lowered the number of prediabetic individuals who eventually developed T2DM. In addition, the curcumin treatment appeared to improve overall function of β-cells, with very minor adverse effects. Therefore, this study demonstrated that the curcumin intervention in a prediabetic population may be beneficial.”
