Children Should Be Able to Get Vaccinated Without Parent's Consent? Anti-Vaxxers Should Be Jailed? The Rise of the Totalitarian Medical State

On June 13, 2019, the American Medical Association (AMA) released a Highlight Report summarizing their 2019 meeting. According to the report, the AMA adopted perhaps one of the controversial policies ever: “Let mature minors override refusenik parents on vaccination” [1].

The AMA stated, “Outbreaks of measles, pertussis, mumps and other vaccine-preventable conditions driven by parents who are refusing to immunize their children is bringing renewed attention to the fact that adolescents in 39 states must have their parents’ permission to get vaccinated” [1], so the AMA is executing a new effort to lobby and force states to support minors being immunized without their parent’s consent. Yet, no large organizations seem to be investigating the fact that recently vaccinated individuals can easily transmit the live virus and that the MMR vaccine has been proven to be highly ineffective, even when the patient has had multiple shots.

However, parents’ rights in this regard are protected at the Federal level. In 2000, the Supreme Court confirmed that “There is a fundamental right under the Fourteenth Amendment for a parent to oversee the care, custody, and control of a child” [2]. Parents have the intrinsic right of overseeing their child’s care, custody, and control until they reach the age of 18, and this right is highly regarded by the states [3].

Specifically concerning vaccines, the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, which was passed in 1986, legally requires health care providers, doctors, and nurses to distribute vaccine information materials to the parent or legal guardian of any child to whom the provider intends to administer a vaccine prior to the administration of the vaccine [4]. So, under this act, the doctor cannot give a vaccine to an underage child without consulting and informing the parents.

However, the all-powerful AMA does not seem to care that they are dissolving parental rights and legal consent regarding a medical procedure.

In a Daily Mail UK article, Dr. Kevin Reilly from the Radiological Society of North America made another point, “Parents would also still have to pay for the vaccinations and the change could risk 'chipping away at parental rights” [5]. Therefore, not only would parents not have a say in the medical procedure their underage child is having, but they would be responsible for the costs of the treatment, as well as any other emergency medical costs that would arise if the child has an adverse reaction or debilitating illness as a result of the vaccination.

Further, the AMA wants to allow minors as young as twelve to be able to consent to vaccination, regardless if their patents hold “flawed beliefs” [5]. While I could understand the logic of this new pseudo-regulation if parents were able to sign off on their children’s liability, but instead,  the AMA believes that doctors will be the ones to declare whether a child is “mature enough” to legally consent to a vaccine[5].

The AMA’s Duplicitous History

Ceteris paribus, the AMA has a tumultuous past full of shadowed dealings and lobbying efforts.

Once upon a time, the AMA was a top-rated organization. In the 1950s, nearly 75% of practicing doctors were members in the AMA; however, today that number is down to just 15%, noted in a published journal article pragmatically titled, “American Medical Association membership woes continue” [6].

Regardless of their noted membership obstacles, the AMA still has an extraordinary amount of clout through their lobbying efforts, which even makes their new standpoint on non-parental consent vaccines more concerning. The AMA has an arsenal of tools, contacts, and people in their back pocket to make sure they remain relevant at the national level [6].

One of their tools is the American Medical Political Action Committee, whose top priority is to “whether it is a new candidate for office who will make physicians and patients a top priority, or a candidate running for reelection who has proven to be a friend of medicine,” [7] which clearly translates to “fund pro-vaccine, pro-big pharma candidates.”

The AMA’s second tool is its vast amounts of spendable capital. Last year, the organization spent $20,417,000 in their lobbying efforts [8], which translates to an exceptional level of influence on the American legal system concerning health care policy and public perceptions.

Compared to other political influences, a 2016 report by The Hill even recognized Richard Deem, the Senior Vice President of Advocacy for the AMA in their list of top “movers and shakers” in the country [8], noting the organization’s ability to get their agenda instilled in the American legal system. Even former AMA president, Dr. Cecil Wilson, stated, “What the AMA does, and does best, is in the advocacy arena” [6].

Moreover, in a review of the top 20 healthcare lobbyists by spending, the AMA ranked #1, with $154.75 million in all-time expenditures [7], and that total was back in 2015, and the AMA ranks #5 in spending among all lobbying groups, regardless of industry.

The lobbying firm that the AMA uses if the same firm that many big-pharma companies use as well, and the AMA Foundation’s list of high-level corporate count-table members consists almost entirely of representatives from pharmaceutical companies, including representative from the four companies that manufacture all childhood vaccines in the United States: Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, and Sanofi [11].

The AMA even has their hand in the publication of peer-reviewed scientific studies by creating their journal, Journal of the American Medical Association, and through their journal, they have researched and given drugs their “seal of approval” to pharmaceuticals and medicines that have killed tens of thousands of Americans every year, even though they have no capacity to test such medications [12] [13].

Forbes even threw a punch at the AMA. In 2011, Forbes published an article accusing the AMA of having a “government-granted monopoly” through its Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) medical services coding system, which is used by health care providers, payers, and facilities across the United States [14] [15]. The CPT system is even used for large, public programs such as Medicare.

In 2010, one-fourth of the AMA’s revenues were CPT-related, which is double of what the organization receives in membership dues. Forbes stated this presents a “gigantic conflict of interest” because this makes the AMA “more of a tool of Washington’s interests than those of doctors” [14].

Moreover, the AMA has a stout history of racketeering. In his 1990 book, Milton Friedman took a punch at the AMA, stating they attacked chiropractors and osteopathic physicians collaboratively. In a 1987 lawsuit, a judge ruled against the AMA, indicating that the AMA had conspired “to contain and eliminate a profession that was licensed in all fifty states” [16]. The judge also confirmed that the AMA has a “long history of illegal behavior” [16].

The AMA has even committed illegal behavior recently. In the early 2000s, they were found guilty of racketeering, along with managed care companies, through manipulation of AMA’s coding software [17].

Undermining Parents’ Rights

The current vaccination issue is just the newest issue arising in the area of non-parental consent medical treatment for underage minors. This has been a long-discussed topic, especially regarding “reproductive rights,” or, dare I say, “privatized murder of children” and sexually transmitted infections (STDs). Health care professionals are eagerly willing to erase legally protected rights of parents because they believe it is “more important” for the child to undergo medical treatment than it is for the parent to be informed and consent about their child’s condition [18]. This whole standpoint quickly becomes farcical, especially since parents are entirely liable for any costs.

An AMA critic succinctly stated, “The birth of the AMA in 1847 launched an organized push for a ‘totalitarian medical pharmaceutical police state.’ Funded by the drug industry, a single, medical monopoly was established using the insurance industry, the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Internal Revenue Service (IRC), the U.S. Postal Service and other state and federal agencies. From the onset, the AMA is characterized as a greed motivated trade union, eliminating competitors to its own financial and political interests” [19].

You may say, “Well, this will never happen.” Well, it has.

Earlier this year, a child was given a vaccination at school without his parent’s consent. During a “routine trip to the school nurse’s office,” the nurse told the mother over the phone that “her son had been accidentally injured and needed ice for his face” [20].

When the son went home, his mother noticed a Band-Aid on his arm, and then the boy explained he had been given a shot [20].

Another conservative who is cynical of the AMA’s actions voiced “So while individuals need to be 21 years old before they are allowed to drink, and 18 years old before they are allowed to purchase cigarettes and elect a president [sic], children at any age can make a decision to partake in vaccinations, regardless of the associated risks, of which there are enough to warrant the need for a National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program” [21].

Washington Post Says That Anti-Vaxxers Are Dangerous and Should Be Arrested

Harvard Law School graduate and statist sycophant Juliette Kayyem posted an opinion article on through The Washington Post entitled “Anti-vaxxers are dangerous. Make them face isolation, fines, arrests” [22].

People are too unquestioning, and this includes people on both sides of the aisle. There has been so much research investigating the negative side-effects of vaccines. If these people would READ the warning sheet that comes with the vaccine, they may lessen their blind fondness of vaccines.

I am going to play Devil’s advocate for a moment. I want the idea of a vaccine to work; it would be great. However, combining several vaccines along with KNOWN NEUROTOXINS is not a good idea, and whoever claims it is a good idea is a very special type of person.

When researching for my articles, I do my best to be objective as possible and understand all sides. Also, I only use peer-reviewed, published studies in my articles about natural compounds to substantiate everything I say.

I have written several articles concerning various topics of vaccines, and they are linked below:
